Courses Needed to be Trained

YRD Patch

Everyone can wear the Yellow River District Patch.
It goes on the right sleeve below the Quality Unit Patch.




Trained Patch

Cub Scout Leaders

  • Youth Protection Training AND
  • New Leader Essentials AND
  • Cub Scout Leader Specific


Boy Scout Leaders

  • Youth Protection Training AND
  • New Leader Essentials AND
  • Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific
  • OR Committee Training

 




Trained Leader

Cub Scout Leaders
in addition to the Trained qualifications

  • Youth Protection Training AND
  • BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation)


Boy Scout Leaders
in addition to the Trained qualifications

  • Youth Protection Training AND
  • Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

 




Trained Unit

Cub Scout Units:

1. Each and every registered scouter that has physical contact or who can come into physical contact with a scout "MUST" complete "Youth Protection" This includes but is not limited to COR's, Committee members that might attend a camp out that the pack may have and or Tiger Parents even though a tiger scout must always has his parents or guardian present during activities all adults have contact with the youth there by all tiger parents must be "Youth Protection certified" A district training card or a online completion sheet is required. (Youth protection is only good for 24 months then it "MUST" be re-taken) (It is a good idea to have your Tiger parents fill out an adult Leaders application as a tiger parent this way a back ground investigation will be done)

2. Each and every scouter "MUST" complete "New Leaders Essentials" this includes but is not limited to all registered Cubmasters, Assistant Cubmasters, Den leaders, Assistant Den Leaders, Pack Trainers. (NEW LEADERS ESSENTIALS does not expire but it is recommended that you retake this course of instruction every two to three years)

3. Each Scouter "MUST" complete "FAST START" for there specific job in the Pack. (If your job changes in the pack you must complete "FAST START" for your new Job.

4. Each Scouter "MUST" be BALOO trained (BALOO does not expire but it is recommended that you retake the course of instruction every two to three years)

5. As of 1 Jan 2009 WEBELO's Leaders "MUST complete Outdoor Leader Skills for WEBELO's Leaders.

6. As of 1 Jan 2009 all leaders are required to be Weather Hazards (At this point this course does not expire but a refresher course is being discussed).

Boy Scouts Units:

1. Each and every registered scouter that has physical contact or who can come into physical contact with a scout "MUST" complete "Youth Protection" This includes but is not limited to COR's, Committee Members, Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters that might attend a camp out that the Troop may have. A district training card for district Training course or a online completion sheet is required. (Youth protection is only good for 24 months then it "MUST" be re-taken) (It is a good idea to have any and all adults that deal with your Unit.

2. Each and every registered Scouter "MUST" complete "New Leaders Essentials". This is a district event course. (NEW LEADERS ESSENTIALS does not expire but it is recommended that you retake this course of instruction every two to three years)

3. Each and every registered Scouter "MUST" complete Boy Scout FAST START.

4. Each and every registered Scouter "MUST" complete Scoutmaster / Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Training (SALT).

5. Each and every registered Scouter "MUST" complete Introduction to Outdoor Leardes Skills (ITOLS)

6. As of 1 Jan 2009 all leaders are required to be Weather Hazards (At this point this course does not expire but a refresher course is being discussed).

7. As of 1 Jan 2009 Safe Swim Defense is required for all Scout Leaders. (At this point this course does not expire but a refresher course is being discussed).

8. As of 1 Jan 2009 Safety Afloat is required for all Scout Leaders.(At this point this course does not expire but a refresher course is being discussed).

Crews:

1. Each and every registered scouter that has physical contact or who can come into physical contact with a scout "MUST" complete "Youth Protection" This includes but is not limited to COR's, Committee Members, Crew Advisors, Associate Crew Advisors or anyone that might come in contact with your scouts. A district training card for district Training course or a online completion sheet is required. (Youth Protection for Crew Leaders is different then that for a Pack or Troop. Youth protection is only good for 24 months then it "MUST" be re-taken) (It is a good idea to have any and all adults that deal with your Unit have Youth Protection)

2. Each and every registered Scouter "MUST" complete "New Leaders Essentials". This is a district event course. (NEW LEADERS ESSENTIALS does not expire but it is recommended that you retake this course of instruction every two to three years)

3. Each and every registered Scouter "MUST" complete Venturing Crew FAST START.

4. Crew Advisors and Associate Crew Advisors "MUST" complete Crew Advisors Training.

5. As of 1 Jan 2009 all leaders are required to be Weather Hazards (At this point this course does not expire but a refresher course is being discussed).
